Service Description
Day 1 - We start from your hotel at 6:30am, packing all that we need in the expedition packs! We go to the town of Cashapampa where you load the donkeys with equipment and supplies and walk to the beautiful valley of Santa Cruz, camping near a large Andean lake at 3,900 meters on the way to base camp. Day 2 - We continue until reaching base camp in the afternoon where we will look for a nice spot to set up our tents to relax. Day3 - Ascend the steep moraine to Camp Morena (4,900m) of Alpamayo. This will involve navigating some switchbacks and boulders. We will enjoy a fabulous view in the evening with the sun setting over the snow-covered slopes. Day 4 - Climb to high camp (5,400 meters). Our day will involve glacier travel across Alpamayo's south glacier, where we will navigate through snow bridges, crevasses, and steep slopes; belaying will be essential for safe travel. After reaching the Alpamayo and Quitaraju col, we have our goal in front of us: the mighty Alpamayo. Day 5 - Alpamayo Summit Day (5,945 meters)! We will depart from camp at 2:00am and head towards the summit wall, which awaits us for an alpine climb on its 420 meters-long path where we will do 7 technical pitches of snow and ice climbing. It will be a fun-filled adrenaline ride to the summit. Later, we move back to the base camp for a delicious Andean-style dinner. day 6 - We will walk back to Cashapampa to meet with transportation and head back to Huaraz. At the hotel, you can enjoy a hot bath and a celebration dinner in the evening. Day 7 - Contingency day in the event of poor weather.
